Our trip from Rondadela began with a taxi to Arcade to avoid walking on the highway. Our taxi dropped us off at the start of an ancient bridge across the river. From there we climbed over 200 m up the hillside. At the top we encountered a man selling cold water and singing to his guitar. We also met a young woman from Germany and her Spanish friend.
She was traveling alone and enjoyed meeting Jerry who spoke German to her and bought her a beer and a bite to eat. She was doing the Camino the typical way, staying in and eating at Albergues on the route. We lost track of her as we entered Pondevedra.
Jerry arrived in Pontevedra dehydrated, exhausted and ready for a nap. I arrived super charged ready to explore this beautiful town and get something to eat. The special of the day was saffron risotto with fresh octopus and shrimp – YUM. I shared a table with a young Spanish couple, we chatted about politics in the U.S. and Spain and in the end of the meal they let me know lunch was on them and wished me Buen Camino!
The Parador was magnificent!
